Hillsborough County Solid Waste has helpful information for residents and business owners who are cleaning up their yards after Hurricane Idalia.

Regular Curbside Yard Waste Collection

Regular curbside yard waste collection will resume Thursday, Aug. 31.Damage assessment teams have determined that the amount and type of debris does not meet emergency levels. Contracted debris haulers for storm debris will not be activated. Residents should place their yard waste from Hurricane Idalia at the curb on their normal collection day. Please be patient with curbside yard waste collection over the next week as service may be delayed due to extra volumes of yard waste from the storm.

Find your collection day here. Piles of leaves and small twigs must be bagged or placed in containers to be collected curbside.

Residential Yard Waste Drop-Off Sites

Residents can take yard waste to the County's two permanent yard waste processing facilities, which will resume normal operations on Thursday, Aug. 31. Normal operating hours are Monday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Residents must show a valid Florida ID showing the residential address of the property owner to receive yard waste disposal. Yard waste must not be bagged at the drop-off sites. Bagged waste must be emptied by the resident for disposal because plastic bags can damage the mulch-processing equipment.

As part of Hillsborough County's annual Solid Waste disposal assessment, residents may deliver up to 2 tons of yard waste per year at these facilities. Once these limits are reached, residents must pay standard fees.

Commercial businesses, including landscaping and tree trimming providers, are not able to use residential folio accounts to deliver yard waste on behalf of Hillsborough County residents. All commercial use is subject to standard fees.

Linebaugh Ave., Tampa, FL 33625, and 13000 U.S. 41, Gibsonton, FL 33534. The commercial disposal fee is $44.55 per ton through Sept. 30, and $48.11 effective Oct. 1 due to the previously approved increase for Fiscal Year 2024.

No Open Burning

Residents are reminded that open burning of residential yard waste and household garbage or trash is prohibited in Hillsborough County. Click here for more information on the rules of open burning.

Illegal Dumping of Debris

Tree-trimming and landscape businesses discarding storm debris on rights of way is considered illegal dumping. All debris collected by privately hired companies should be loaded and transported by the company to a permitted waste disposal site. Residents and businesses are encouraged to report illegal dumping of storm debris or other waste in the public right of way of unincorporated Hillsborough County by contacting Code Enforcement at (813) 274-6600.
